2003年10月 ハワイのカウアイ島でサメに襲われた13歳の少女
べサニーハミルトンの実話をもとに映画化された作品です。

This is the true story that Bethany Hamilton, 13-year-old girl, who really love a surfing,
lost her left arm by shark attack, in October, 2003.
べサニー本人が希望したというべサニー役のAnnaSophia Robb
そして母親のHelen Hunt の演技がとても良かったです。
感動的な話なのはもちろん、ハワイの海とその波を切るサーフインの動きがとても美しく
また音楽も素晴らしかったです。

彼女は本当に強く神を信じていて、
世の中でつらい思いをしている多くの人に、自分の話をすることで
勇気づけることができるように神様が自分を選んだのだと言います。
そして色々な場所へ赴き多くの人に希望と愛を与えています。
「自分は一本の腕でたくさんの人を抱きしめるチャンスがある」
彼女が多くの愛に囲まれ、支えられたからこそ言えることかもしれません。

現在プロサーファーとして活躍しているべサニー。
サメへの恐怖心はないのかとの問いかけに対し
「動物は大好きだし、サメはとても美しい生き物で、
きっと海は必要としているのだと思う」と答えています。

彼女は自分の身に起こったことも、
全て物事には意味があってあるのだと考えているのでしょう。
