オリエンテーション orientation

下の子は昨日から一泊で大学のオリエンテーションがありました。

行く前は、一泊することに気乗りしていなかったのですが

楽しかったのだそう。

学校のグッズをもらったのも嬉しいそうでした。

Younger boy went to college 

for attending overnight orientation from yesterday.

It was unexpected-fun.

He seemed happy to get original school goods.

今日は早速Tシャツも着ていました。

授業はとても大変そうだけど、今の所かなり前向きので

レアも応援しています。

He wore school T-shirt today.

Since he stays positive, 

Lea waves pompoms for him.

今年も卒業式 graduation ceremony 2015

今日は下の子の卒業式です。

特別なことはできませんが、バルーンを買って飾り付けしたら

とてもうれしそうな下の子と、レア。

Younger boy's graduation day today.

Nothing special, but mommy decorated the room with balloons,

younger boy was so excited with Lea.

去年より生徒たちのレイが派手に個性的になり

親兄弟や親戚もかなり盛り上がっていました。

まるでアイドルのコンサートのように卒業生の顔写真のうちわ

キャップトスの時には誰かが仕掛けた花火まで上がりました。

A lot of graduates wore more various leis,

and spectators were more excited than last year.

Somebody set fireworks when they threw their caps.

ダディーが参加できなかったので、上の子が写真を撮ってくれました。

卒業式がとっても楽しかった〜と言っていた下の子

人生はまだまだこれから楽しいことがあるはず

羽ばたいて行ってね〜

Unfortunately, daddy was not able to be there,

older boy took a lot of pictures.

Younger boy really enjoyed his ceremony.

Much more fun will be waiting from now.

Fly high in the future!

大学 college

今日、下の子が合格した学校に行ってみました。

上の子と同じ学校も受かったのですが、

多分こちらの学校に通う事になりそうです。

Today, the family visited the college 

that younger boy passed.

ボーイズが二人とも大学生。

成長した〜

サバイバルキット exam survival kit

先日上の子の学校からレターが来ました

大学からなんて珍しい。。。。。

Mommy received a letter from University of older boy.

正確に言えば学校からというか、寮を管理している所からの手紙で

「Final Exams CARE Package」 のお知らせです。

来月Test期間に入る学生達にスナックの詰め合わせを送る申込書です。

寮生活をしている子供たちのためにこんな感じの詰め合わせを送るのは

アメリカでは一般的なようです。

It is about Final exams care package.

母親が子を心配する思いは何処も同じですね。

でも中身はジャンクフードばかりだし、色んなサイトでオーダーできたり

とても合理的な所はアメリカらしいです。

All mother is thinking of child.

毎週末家に戻って来ている上の子にも

マミィのお手製スナックを食べてるレアにも

必要はないですけどね。。。。

Older boy who return home every weekend,

and Lea that eat home made snack,

don't need such a snack package.

教官！ GPS!?

下の子は仮免中。

本免許に受かるためにはしばらく運転の練習が必要です。

今日は学校まで初めて運転して行きました。

Younger boy has a temporary permit.

He has to drive more than 60 hours with adult.

He drove for the first time to school this morning.

助手席に座るレアがナビゲーション。

でもちょっと心配そうです。

Lea guided him to a school in the seat next to the driver,

but worried about his driving....?

道がすいている時間帯でもあり

問題なく無事に学校に到着〜！

教官がいいからね〜

In the good time of day for traffic,

he arrived school safely.

ドームへ！ moving day!

上の子の学校は来週から始まります

それに先駆けて今日はドーム引っ越しの日。

Older boy moves to dorm today.

学校の周り中、ごった返していますしたが

上の子は家も近いのでとりあえず着替え類の荷物だけ運び込みました。

Every students bring many their stuff.

Because the college is from home to one hour,

older boy brought only clothes today.

レアもベッドメーキングのお手伝い。

Lea helped to make a bed.

戻りました。 back to school

長い夏休みも終わり、今日から下の子の学校が始まりました。

下の子の免許が間に合わず、またレアは学校の送り迎えが始まります。

Back to school!!

Younger son doesn't get his driver license yet.

Lea has to drop and pick him up school again.

今日は下の子の卒業用写真撮影でした。

Younger boy went to photo studio for senior portrait.

ちょっと緊張してたけど

 "Hey! Lady."とか言わされて笑顔を作っていました。

He was made to say "Hey! Lady" for making nice smile

高校生活最後の一年、頑張って

そして楽しんでほしい物です。

オリエンテーション orientation

今日は朝から上の子の学校のオリエンテーションがありました。

生徒と親は別のチェックイン。

Today is orientation of older boy's university.

Students and parents check in separately.

その後のオリエンテーションもずっと別々に行われました。

親の方は、こんなボタンを渡されて、アンケートをとったりしながらひたすら話を聞く

Students and parents attend orientation separately.

Mommy was given this keypad,  and answered some questions.

ランチで合流。

しかし、ランチの間に生徒は最初のセメスターのスケジュールを決め、

本当は親がヘルプをするように言われたのですが、マミィがわかる訳も無く

一人で決めていた上の子。

Older boy and mommy met at lunch time.

Students have to decide and register their schedule after lunch.

Parents have to help them, but mommy was not able to suggest it.

He decided by himself. Good boy!

午後もまた、別々。。。。

一通り話を聞き終わり、生徒はスケジュールを確定して夕方終了。

お疲れさまでした〜

Afternoon, they attended separately again.

After 3pm, everything is done.......tired.

卒業式 graduation

今日は上の子の卒業式。

一時間前の４時に開場。でも西日が暑いこと。。。

Today is graduation of older boy.

4pm, It opened one hour before of the ceremony .....west sun is too hot!!

いよいよ入場。

Seniors come in...

優秀な生徒達のスピーチや表彰が行われた後

一人ずつ、卒業証書をもらいます。

Some students made a speech, and got award.

Then every single seniors get their diplomas.

校長先生の「これであなた達はこの学校を卒業します」の言葉を最後に

生徒達は帽子を空へ投げました。イエーイ！！

Seniors released graduation hats through the air all together 

at the word  of school president "Now, you leave this high school ”

卒業おめでとう！

卒業式に参加出来なかったけど卒業式気分！

オープンハウス open house

今日は上の子が入学を決めた大学のオープンハウスへ行きました。

The family went to the open house of the university that 

older son goes to after summer.

大学の構内は大きくてまるで小さな街みたいだねと下の子

寮もキャンパス内にあり、生活と学びが一体化しています。

The campus looks like a small town.

その後、チャイナタウンまで足をのばし飲茶を食べました。

香港を思い出すような町並み。

After guidance, they went to China town and ate dim sum.

The street remind them Hong Kong.

お留守番していたレアにはチャーシューパオのお土産だよ〜

Lea that waited at home, got a steam pork bum.

Lucky!

CSU説明会 CSU collage night

カリフォルニアにある公立大学はUC 系とCSU系

今夜CSU２３校の説明会がSanta Clara convention center であったので行ってきました。

Tonight, CSU collage night was held at Santa Clara convention center.

大半はシニアーイヤー(12年生)の生徒と保護者

早くから進学に取り組んでいる11年生、10年生の子もいました。

Many senior students and parents asked and got catalogs at each booth.

Some students are junior and sophomore.

とりあえず学校の資料をもらいました。

学校の願書の締め切りは来月末。

さて、どうするかな？

Older boy just got so many catalogs .....

Application started yesterday, and

the dead line is the end of November.

Take an immediate action!

卒業に向けて preparation for graduation

今日はシニアーポートレイトの撮影があり

上の子は学校の後、写真スタジオに行きました。

元はダイナーだったのかな？このスタジオ。

Older boy has a senior portrait appointment after school.

This studio looks like a diner.

今年のイヤーズブックに載せるため、タキシードで撮影

He wore a tuxedo for years book photo.

オプションでスクールガウンを着てもうワンショット撮影してもらいました。

He took one more shot with a green gown.

夜は学校でカレッジナイトがありました。

いわゆる進学懇談会。

本当に大丈夫なのかな〜とボーイズを心配するレアでした。
