昨日はレアのバスタブ事件ですっかり忘れていたのですが
日本は節分でした。
Yesterday, mommy forgot about Japanese season event "Setsubun"
because Lea's bathtub case happened.
Setsubun literally means “the day between two seasons”
Bean throwing called "mamemaki" is done at home on the Setsubun.
People scatter roasted soy beans inside and outside their houses shouting,
“Fortune in, devils out”.
Then they eat the same number of beans as their age and wish for good health.
もちろんこちらでそうのような習慣はありませんが、
せめて、年の数だけお豆でも食べましょう。。。。。
レアは今年3歳になるので、3粒だけですよ!!
Of course, the U.S doesn't have such a custom,
but at least....let's eat beans.
Lea becomes three years old this year.....so you can eat only 3 beans.
そして、香港では（というか中国では）旧正月でした!!
「恭喜発財!! 心想事成、万事如意」
懐かしいですね～
And in Hong Kong (in China), yesterday was Lunar New Year!!
"Gong Xi Fa Cai !!"
香港でのお正月はライオンダンスやドラゴンダンス
赤や金色の飾り付け
夜はまぶしいほどのライトアップで、本当ににぎやかでした。
Chinese New Year is very boisterous.
The town is decorated with red and gold,
and lightning it up is dazzling at night.
日本と同じようにお年玉(利是ライシー）の習慣がありましたが
日本と違うのは、大人ももらえるということでしょうか？？
もちろん、こちらではお年玉という習慣もありません。
「郷に入っては郷に従え」の我が家。
ごめんねボーイズ!! しっかりお手伝いしてお小遣い稼いでください。
Japan has a custom called "Otoshidama" that is money given as a gift at the new year.
Japanese kids can get the money from their parents or relative on new years day.
Hong Kong has a similar custom called "Lai si".
Chinese give some money to the people who were taken care of. Adult get it, too.
Of course, the U.S doesn't have such a custom.
"When in Rome, do as the Romans do"
Sorry boys. You have to help parents to earn your money.
