今日はエヴァーグレイズナショナルパークに行きました。
1947年に創立されたこの国立公園は
アメリカの国立公園の中で3番目に広く6,100 ㎢ もあります。
(デスバレー、 そして昨年行ったイエローストーンに次ぐ)
公園内には4か所ビジターセンターがあり、
今日はＵＳ４１を西に走った、シャークバレーに行きました。
Today, we went to Everglades National Park.
This National Park was established in 1947.
It is thirdly wide in American National park, about 1.5million acre.
(the first is Death valley, the second is Yellow stone)
There are four visitor center in the park.
We visited Shark valley today.
このビジターセンターからは、車では侵入できず
トレイルを見て回るためには、トラムツアー(所時間2時間)
または自転車(レンタルあり) か徒歩となります。
私たちはトラムツアーを利用。
トラムに乗る前に、ツアーガイドから注意事項の説明を聞きました。
フランスやロシアからの観光客もいました。
We can't go into the trail by our car from this visitor center.
We used tram tour today.
Before we rode the tram, this tour guide explained instructions.
今の気候は暑すぎず、いたるところでアリゲーターを見ることが出来ました。
蚊もいないので、ベストシーズンかもしれません。
This season is dry season and not too hot. Therefore we can find a lot of Alligators.
It is the best season to visit the park because there are no mosquitoes.
途中トラムを止めて、ガイドさんが入って入ったのは何とアリゲーターのトイレ。
浮かんでいるものはプープーです。
でも、水はとてもきれいです。
This is the Alligator's restroom.
The things that are floating in the water are Alligator poo-poo.
Oh,No!! but water is very clear.
実は、このプープーはミネラルがいっぱいで、
スポンジのようになって水をきれいにしています。
お客さんたちに少しずつ配られたプープーは何の匂いもしませんでした。
This poo-poo contain many minerals and like a sponge that purify water.
No smell completely!!
トレイルのちょうど真ん中あたりにこの展望台があります。
360度見渡すことが出来、ここにも何匹もアリゲーターがいました。
There is the tower in the middle of the trail.
You can enjoy scenery of 360 degrees.
There were Alligators in here.
ツアーの後半では、たくさんの赤ちゃんアリゲーターを見ることが出来ました。
一度に卵を40個ぐらい生むそうで、孵ったばかりの赤ちゃんが
お母さんワニのそばにウヨウヨ。。。。。
この中のたった2，3匹が大人になれるそうです。
The latter half of the tour, we were able to see a lot of baby Alligators.
Alligator lays egg about 40 at a time.
There were so many babies that just were hatched.
Only two or three of them can become adult Alligator.
ガイドさん曰く
カメも食べると言っていましたが、
仲良く一緒に昼寝していました。
Turtle is a friend, not food!!
ツアーの後立ち寄ったインフォメーションセンター。
アリゲーターの体長の見積もり方は
目からは鼻までの長さのインチをフィートに変えればよいそうです。
たとえば、目から鼻までの長さが6インチ(約15cm ) だった場合、体長は6フィート(約180cm)
Information center.
You can estimate the length of Alligator easily.
For example, the length from eyes to a nose is 6 inches, the length of the body is 6 feet.
この白いものは背中のゴツゴツの中の骨だそうです。
This is the born that the bump of the back.
では、アリゲーターとクロコダイルの違いは何でしょう？
アリゲーターは淡水に住み、比較的おとなしい性格。
色は黒で、鼻の形がＵの字。上の歯が下歯にかぶさっています。
What is the difference between Alligator and Crocodile?
Alligator live in pure water. They are quiet.
The body color is black, nose shape is U.
The upper teeth cover the under teeth.
クロコダイルは海水に住み、 行動的で危険。
色は緑で、鼻の形はＶの字。下の歯が上歯にかぶさっています。
Crocodile live in salt water. They are aggressive and dangerous.
The body is green, nose shape is V.
The under teeth cover the upper teeth.
今度は、国立公園の周りで、エアーボートに挑戦しましょう！
Next time, we 're going to ride an air boat.
