レアの家から２時間ほど北に行ったカリフォルニアのペタルマで
先週、第２５回「世界一おブス犬コンテスト」が行われたそうです。
The 25th World Ugliest dog contest was held
at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, CA, last week.
Petaluma is in the north about 92 miles from Lea's house.
毎年夏に２５〜３０匹ぐらいのワンコが参加しているこの大会
優勝したワンちゃんには$1500の賞金や豪華なプライズが用意されているそう。
Between 25 to 30 dogs compete every summer.
The winner of the contest earns prestige, of course,
as well as $1,500, a trophy, a professional photo session
and a catered dinner for both winner and owner at a luxury hotel.
今年の優勝者は４歳のウォーリー君
ビーグル、ボクサー、バセットの雑種で
鴨顔と言われ、２９匹の競合を引き離しての優勝。
ぶさいく犬と言われようとも、飼い主にとっては
とても可愛い愛犬なのは言うまでも無いですね。
A new winner for 2013--a four-year-old mutt mix, part beagle, basset and boxer--
named Walle who stole the title with his huge head, short thick stature
which includes a hump back and duck waddle from 29 other contenders.
Whatever he looks ugly, he is the prettiest dog for a owner.
もちろんレアが可愛いのも言うまでもない。
Obviously, Lea is the cutest dog ♥
